- Eight Killer Books That Helped Me Grow
- Fri, 10 May 2013 15:38:15 -0500 - I'm a book freak. I love to read, but more importantly, I love to read books that will help paint a lasting picture on the canvass of my soul. - Tue, 30 Oct 2012 15:55:51 -0500 - "God loves some decidedly odd people and has some very strange friends. This book is written by one of them," writes Peter H. Lawrence in "The Hot Line: How Can We Hear God Speak - Today?" (Kingsway Publications, 1990; ISBN: 0-860-65712-4; 288 pages). Most of us would recognise God's voice and obey his message if it came to us as an audible voice accompanied by a visible sign. That is what Anglican pastor Lawrence posits in this personal account of God's communion with him. The fact that God's voice is seldom audible should not put us off listening for it, he continues. Through this 'veritable collection of signs and blunders,' as the author describes the book, he allows the reader to follow his struggles to hear, and to obey, God. In this way, he reveals that God does, indeed, speak to anyone who chooses to listen, and that the rewards of such communication are worth striving for.

- Thu, 18 Oct 2012 17:08:13 -0500 - I must admit that I have been very skeptical when reading books that address issues of race - whether it is race relations or specific challenges that a particular ethnic group may face. - Book Review - The Set Apart Way: For Christ Centered Creative Artists
- Thu, 18 Oct 2012 14:45:11 -0500 - More than ever, it is becoming necessary to educate worship artists, or should I say believers in general, concerning what it means to live "a set apart" life according to the practices, principles and ideologies originally recorded in the scriptures - not only in logos, but by rhema. So many of our Christian foundational teachings have been skewed and watered in our present society as more and more people embrace a "feel good" religious practice. As a result, it is imperative that apostolic and prophetic voices arise to push this emerging generation into a place of understanding and embracing what it really means to chase after the heart of God verses chasing after a gift; the tangible rewards of the gift that can come from men; and the intoxicating need to entertain, be entertained, be an entertainer and to be worshiped or idolized.

- Thu, 20 Sep 2012 08:33:31 -0500 - Faith is taking a stance on something without wavering... forever. Faith is unyielding. Faith is unstoppable. Faith is unrelenting. Faith moves mountains. Faith conquers. Faith overcomes all obstacles. Faith digs it's heals in and will not be moved. Faith is like concrete, the longer it stands the stronger it gets. Faith makes no sense.

- He Leadeth Me by Fr Walter Ciszek
- Wed, 19 Sep 2012 12:32:35 -0500 - In his book, He Leadeth Me, Ciszek writes almost matter of factly about the 23 years spent in a series of Russian prisons and labor camps. Using simple declarative prose, the power of this story is amplified by the absence of drama or of any attempt to do anything other than to give glory to God as he is led to trust-total, complete, irrational trust.

- Does End-Time Bible Prophecy Teach Us Anything About a 7-Year Antichrist Reign?
- Thu, 13 Sep 2012 10:13:17 -0500 - The popular teaching of a 7-year antichrist rule in the end time seems to be a part of the rapture doctrine that is so zealously propagated by mainstream evangelicals. Ever since I started studying Bible prophecy I have always wondered where they got this theory from. Certainly, they must have a strong biblical foundation for it why it is being taught with such confidence.
- Running Races With Endurance and Determination
- Wed, 12 Sep 2012 08:39:07 -0500 - Having a mindset of running races with endurance and determination to finish is a training plan for victory for the Christian. - New Age Religion Mixed With Science Makes for Interesting Reading Indeed
- Sun, 09 Sep 2012 21:42:10 -0500 - As the coordinator for a think tank which happens to operate online, I have a ton of books on my personal bookshelf having to do with the mind, brain, neurology, psychology, artificial intelligence, and the next evolutionary step of human-computer interfaces. That might sound like an esoteric niche to you, but it is certainly up my alley considering my work in early retirement running this think tank. Interestingly enough, I try to stay away from religious topics for anything except a foundational philosophy. Therefore, whether it is an old religion, a major religion, cult, or some New Age religion generally I shy away from it.

- A Childlike Trust
- Thu, 23 Aug 2012 11:03:47 -0500 - I admit that I'm a practical joker... sometimes to a fault. I remember one particular joke I played on my eldest daughter Jackie who is now 30. At the time of the joke she must have been about 3-4 years old. As we were driving past a steam plant she eyed the tall exhaust vent with steam coming out of it. With a childlike fascination she asked me, "Daddy, what do they make there"? Without missing a beat I gave her the most honest answer I could at the time. I said. "Oh, that's where they make clouds".
