Christian Children Books

How can I get my Christian childrens book published?
I have been working on a book aimed at Christian Children. Anyone know any good publishers?
When you print out the pages, put it away for at least 6 weeks. After that, take a red pen and go over it very thoroughly. Look for grammar, syntax, punctuation. Also, look at stuff you want to add or delete. There is no limit to how many times you edit
After the manuscript is perfect, time to shop for an agent (optional, but a great advantage). Buy a copy of the most recent Writer’s Market or Literary Marketplace. Look for an agent that suits your manuscript needs. Once you’ve decided, send a query (or not, depending on the agency). If they wan’t to see the manuscript, send it off. If they accept, you’re ahead.
The same rule pretty much applies. Query, or not, and wait for a response. If they say yes, send the manuscript. If they agree, good job! Expect to see in in shelves in a few months
But expect rejection. Everybody gets it, just move on.

Teaching Children $3.95 What does my child need to learn and when does he need to learn it? Teaching Children, a unique curriculum guide for grad levels K through six, provides answers. An excellent educational approach which naturally integrates a Christian worldview and Scriptural principles, Teaching Children draws on noted English educator Charlotte Mason and the Child-Light approach to learning. Child-Light puts children in touch with fine literature and teaches them through the use of "living books." It applies a literary, written, and verbal approach to learning, presenting a logical sequence of skills, concepts, and content. The result–an important resource for those who want to get away from preplanned curriculums. Teaching Children is for both classroom and home teachers, for public and Christian schools, for everyone who desires to enrich a child’s learning experience An introduction written by Susan Schaeffer Macaulay, author of For the Children’s Sake, explains how and why the Child-Light educational approach came about, and how this third Child-Light book fits into the Child-Light program. |

Early Christian Books in Egypt Early Christian Books in Egypt $36.94 For the past hundred years, much has been written about the early editions of Christian texts discovered in the region that was once Roman Egypt. Scholars have cited these papyrus manuscripts–containing the Bible and other Christian works–as evidence of Christianity’s presence in that historic area during the first three centuries AD. In "Early Christian Books in Egypt," distinguished papyrologist Roger Bagnall shows that a great deal of this discussion and scholarship has been misdirected, biased, and at odds with the realities of the ancient world. Providing a detailed picture of the social, economic, and intellectual climate in which these manuscripts were written and circulated, he reveals that the number of Christian books from this period is likely fewer than previously believed. Bagnall explains why papyrus manuscripts have routinely been dated too early, how the role of Christians in the history of the codex has been misrepresented, and how the place of books in ancient society has been misunderstood. The author offers a realistic reappraisal of the number of Christians in Egypt during early Christianity, and provides a thorough picture of the economics of book production during the period in order to determine the number of Christian papyri likely to have existed. Supporting a more conservative approach to dating surviving papyri, Bagnall examines the dramatic consequences of these findings for the historical understanding of the Christian church in Egypt. |

Aus Wikipedia. Nicht dargestellt. Auszug: Jugendweihe (youth consecration) is a secular coming of age ceremony practiced by German 14 year olds. It originated among the secular societies in the 19th century as an alternative to Confirmation by the Roman Catholic and Protestant churches. It was especially widespread in East Germany, where atheism was encouraged under the GDR, but has become less popular since German reunification. Today it is occasionally known as Jugendfeier (youth ceremony). The term Jugendweihe first appeared in 1852, to mark a new form of initiation developed by the secular movements, who developed a course of moral instruction for their children, founded on cultural history, as an alternative to Christian teachings. The concluding Jugendweihe was above all a ceremony to mark the child’s leaving school, and so was held at the age of 14. Since the 1890s the form of the ceremony has remained largely unchanged. The teacher makes a speech about the humanist worldview, the young person makes a pledge, and is given ‘pages of remembrance’ (Erinnerungsblätter) and a commemorative book. The ceremony is broken up |

100 Anime $3.48 Tentacles from the bowels of the earth. Machines from another dimension. Cyborgs designed by ghostly children. Planets destroyed by psychic amoeba. Welcome to the wonderfully complex and disorienting world of Japanese animation–anime. 100 Anime is not a guide to this world; it is a ticket to keep you lost in sensory overload. This expansive and mind-blowing book delves deep into the chaotic meaning forged by anime’s mutation of Eastern/ Western themes, images, and sounds. Read it in order to navigate the postwar shock waves that still propel Japan’s mass media. 100 Anime offers stimulating revelations of the wild world of anime and gives an overview of how vast the anime industry is in comparison to live- action cinema; how important the calligraphic vein of Japanese culture is in its dissemination of highly graphic material; and how the westernized reading of Japanese iconography requires a complete and irre trievable dumping of Judeo Christian Eurocentric postulations of semiotics, symbolism, and mythology. |

Casale Monferrato, the ancient Bodincomagus, is a city in the province of Alessandria, Piedmont (Italy), on the River Po, and has been a stronghold since the time of the Lombards. Liutprand, King of the Lombards enlarged it, and Emperor Otto II made it the chief town of a marquisate, giving it to the sons of Aleran, Duke of Saxony; later it was inherited by Emperor Michael VIII, Palaeologus, who sent thither his son Theodore. In 1533, the dynasty of the Palaeologi being extinct, Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor gave it to the House of Gonzaga. From 1681 to 1706 it was in the hands of the French, from whom, in 1713, it passed to the House of Savoy. Casale was created a see in 1474 by Sixtus IV; previously it belonged to the Diocese of Asti. From 1609 through 1614, the Spanish government systematically forced Moriscos to leave the kingdom for Muslim North Africa. They were only allowed to keep what money and possessions they could carry; the rest, including their property, was impounded. The expulsion especially affected the former Kingdom of Valencia and Kingdom of Aragon, harming their economies for generations. Suspicions and tensions between the Moriscos and the Christians had been high for some time. While some Moriscos did hold influence and power, and they had some allies such as the nobility of Valencia and Aragon who depended on them as a cheap labor force, their overall political and economic heft in Spain was low. The Christian population constantly suspected the Moriscos of not being sincere in their Christianity. As the Moriscos had been forced to choose between conversion and exile, many indeed held little loyalty to either the crown or the church. Several revolts broke out, the most notable being the 15681573 revolt against an edict of Phillip II’s banning Arabic, Arabic names, and requiring Moriscos to give up their children to be educated by priests. After the suppression of the revolt, Philip ordered the dispersal of the Moriscos of Granada to other areas. Philip expected that this would break down the Morisco community and facilitate their assimilation into the Christian population. This may have happened to a degree to Granada’s Moriscos, but not in Valencia or Aragon, where genuine crypto-Muslim enclaves still existed. At around t… More: |
